Want more people to find your group online, whether that’s potential new members, audiences, funders or collaborators? Search engine optimisation (SEO) is one of the most effective (and low‑cost) ways to improve your visibility, but it can feel confusing or overly technical.

This free one‑hour webinar will demystify SEO and show how small, realistic changes can make a big difference to how your group appears in search results. We’ll focus on what SEO actually means for amateur music groups, and how to apply it using your website and your presence on the Making Music site.

In this practical session, we’ll cover:

• What search engine optimisation is (and what it isn’t)

• How people search for music groups and what that means for your wording and content

• Simple, effective SEO wins you can apply straight away

• How the Making Music website supports your group’s search visibility

• A Q&A to ask questions about your own group and website

Who this event is for:

This session is ideal for anyone involved in promoting or managing a Making Music member group, including committee members, marketers, web editors, musical directors and volunteers. No technical knowledge required.

Recording information:
We may decide to record this event, either for publishing on our website, or so that we can review it internally.
•    We will announce at the beginning of the event if a recording is being made and what it will be used for
•    We will usually record in speaker view, meaning only people who speak will be recorded
•    If you speak, your image and voice will be captured in the recording
•    Attendee names as displayed in a Zoom meeting will not be captured in the recording
•    If you do not want your live image to be captured, you may turn off your camera during the event. However, please be aware that if you do, your name will be displayed in place of your image, unless you have uploaded an image to your profile in Zoom
•    Breakout rooms will not normally be recorded
•    Your comments in the chat box will not form part of the recording
